Chairman of BP says dividend decision to be taken in July

Carl Henric SvanbergBritish Petroleum officials have informed that the company will take a decision on the upcoming dividend payment soon.

It is expected to be decided in the month of July itself. The chairman of BP, Mr. Svanberg has said that the first aim of the company will be to take a right decision to overcome the Gulf of Mexico issue.

It has been trying hard to stop the oil spill. He has said this while answering to a question asked by an investor in a conference.

This comment has come from the company officials because of tremendous pressure from US authorities.  BP was likely to cut the dividend payments to continue the stop and restructure the oil spill at Golf of Mexico.

The company has estimated that it has to pay 10.5 billion dollar to its shareholders as dividends in four quarterly payments.

However, the oil giant has already declared its first quarterly dividend. It will pay 2.6 billion dollar of dividend and it will be paid on 21st of June this year.
