C-DAC releases ISM V6 language softwareThe Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) has introduced special software using Graphics and Intelligence based Script Technology (GIST), making it easy to use the Microsoft Office in 19 different languages. The newly developed intelligent script manager, V6, has features to present an error free document through spell check, synonyms and a dictionary for publishing industry.

Mahesh Kulkarni, the head of the GIST group, said, "ISM V6 will cater to diverse user requirements from word processing, database applications, web based applications, publishing and even custom built software. Whatever applications are available in Microsoft Word, will be available in Indian languages with this software." It is provided with an in-built keyboard for regional languages that comes with the software.

The software supports languages including Telugu, Manipuri, Nepali, Konkani, Bodo, Santhali, Maithili, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil and Dogri in addition to English. Users need to install software in the operating system.

It can convert words into regional words into English language besides a tool to generate any number, date or time in Indian languages.
