Islamabad  - A car bomb killed one woman and wounded four other people in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore on Wednesday, police said.

The explosives were planted in a pickup truck parked by a roadside in a posh residential neighbourhood reserved for government officers, police official Mohammad Amin told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

"A woman passer-by was killed when she was hit by shards of metal, while four more people also sustained injuries, Amin said.

The mini-truck carried official number plates, but investigators were yet to verify whether these were genuine. (dpa)
