Cape Town turns into battle zone
The streets of Cape Town resembled a battlefield a few days ago. Well, it was not a real battle that was going on, but the shooting of Acid Factory.
Writer-turned-director Suparn Verma reveals that the explosions on the streets in broad daylight on a normal working day were necessary to give an authentic feel to the action sequences.
He says, "We shot in different locations in Cape Town during the daytime as well as at night. The streets were cleared even on a busy day during the week since we were shooting action sequences involving blasts and explosions. Cape Town certainly wore a deserted look."
He adds, "We also shot a lot at night. We were really happy that we got all the necessary permissions to do the kind of action sequences we wanted to do. Our film has action sequences on land, water and air. So, you see there's nothing left that we could have done. Fardeen Khan was a sport on the sets. He has done all the stunts himself and is quite a daredevil."
But it was veteran actor Danny Denzongpa who was the true livewire during the schedule. Suparn says, "When I first met Danny to discuss the film and his role, I told him how big a fan of his I am and that I would be really happy and proud if he agreed to do my film. Thankfully he agreed and he has been great fun to work with. Danny connects with people totally on a very emotional level. If he likes you he can go out of his way to help you."
He adds: "Danny was quite the man to watch out for during our schedule. He is a thorough professional who always delivers his best. He was the last man to leave the bar but the first man to report on the sets the next day. My respect for him has only grown."SPORT: Fardeen Khan
