Cape Town Test: Aussies undeterred, still confident of a win

Cricket AustraliaCape Town (South Africa), Mar. 20 : Australian opener Simon Katich is confident that a 3-0 sweep against South Africa is par for the course, despite the visitors being bowled out for 209 on day one of the Cape Town Test.

South Africa will resume on Friday in control of the dead-rubber match at 0-57, with reluctant opener Ashwell Prince 37 not out and debutant Imraan Khan on 15.

Katich top-scored for the Australians with 55.

"It (the Australian score) is below what we would have expected but all series we''ve kept chipping away and the bowlers have done a great job. So hopefully if we can win the first session tomorrow we can get back on track,'''' Katich said at the end of the day’s play.

South Africa spinner Paul Harris took 3-34 and pacer Dale Steyn claimed 4-56. Makhaya Ntini finished with 2-38, taking two late wickets after his impressive early spell went unrewarded.

Katich held Australia''s innings together with his 229-minute knock. (ANI)
