Cairn India becomes fastest growing energy company, says PlattsCairn India has become the fastest growing energy company in the world after it recorded a three year compounded growth rate of 119.8 per cent, according to Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings.

ExxonMobil remained on the top of the list of the largest energy company in the world. The list included about 70 companies from Asia including those from India and China. A total of 12 Indian companies were ranked in the global Top 250 rankings list this year.

Out of all the Indian companies on the top 250 list, about half were also included in the 50 Fastest Growing list including Reliance Industries, Coal India, Indian Oil Corp and Gail, according to Platts. On the other hand, there were 23 companies in the Top 250 list from China.

Platts President Larry Neal said Asian companies are setting higher bars each year and this indicated that there is there is huge growth and energy demand potential in the region. However, the top eight positions were taken by western energy companies.

ExxonMobil has been on the top position from eight years and it was followed by Royal Dutch Shell, Chevron Corp, BP Plc, OJSC Gazprom, Statoil, Total and ConocoPhillips. Chinese major PetroChina was listed on the ninth position and Roseneft was on eth tenth spot.
