Sydney, Nov 25 : Cricket Australia is investigating into a pub brawl on Sunday night involving all-rounder Andrew Symonds, though the latter has denied the blame on him.

The investigation report is expected to come by Wednesday, and might jeopardize Symonds’ chances of paying in Brisbane Test beginning Friday.

CA chief executive James Sutherland said the investigation would not be rushed or compromised.

According to foxsports. com, Symonds is in danger of being kicked out of international cricket after just one game back from suspension if he is found to have done anything wrong.

Earlier, he was suspended after a series of issues that culminated with Symonds going fishing and missing a compulsory team meeting before the one-day series against Bangladesh in Darwin during August. The 33-year-old is on last warning now.

Symonds was allegedly drinking with a group of Australian rugby league players at the Normanby Hotel in Red Hill following Australia''s 149-run victory in the first Test against New Zealand at the Gabba. Other Australian cricketers were at the same hotel but were not drinking with Symonds at the time of the incident.

Clarifying his stand, Symonds said in a statement on Monday: “It has been reported that last night (Sunday) I was involved in a pub fight and I would just like to take the opportunity to clarify this report. A member of the public acted unreasonably towards me while I was with friends at which time I took steps to remove myself from the situation. The member of the public was subsequently removed from the premises as a result of his actions. I was sharing some drinks with other players and close friends and did not in any way provoke this situation. I would also like to take the opportunity to clarify reports last week that I am being treated for alcohol addiction. I am being treated for a stress related illness and I remain committed to dealing with these issues.”

Symonds’ public struggles with alcohol go back to the 2005 Ashes tour, when he turned up drunk for a one-day match, fell over during the warm-ups, and was subsequently suspended for two matches. (ANI)
