Satyam Q2 Net Profit Leaps 42%Satyam Computer Services Ltd has reported a net profit of Rs 580.9 crore for Q2. It is 42 per cent more than the previous financial result of the company.

The revenue of the company increased to Rs 2819.29 crore despite global financial crisis and considerable depreciation of rupee in the current quarter.

However, its BPO operations are still suffering losses. It suffered a loss of Rs 20 crore in the present fiscal.

The company said that it will invest $70 million over the next 3 years in the facility and to generate 400 new jobs.

'Terror database’ to be defended by the Govt

The independent reviewer of counterterrorism laws has implanted an attack on the plans to create a database of every phone call and email sent in Britain. According to Lord Carlile, the idea of a database was pathetic.

While in Canary Wharf, Home office secretary Jacqui Smith was quite busy defending the plans. She said, “Our ability to intercept communications and obtain communications data is vital to fighting terrorism and combating serious crime.”

The government is not determined to collect data related to the actual content but in fact collect the data related to calls and emails, such as the identity of the caller and where they are calling. 

RIM eyes India as potential market

India is being seen as the world’s fastest-growing wireless market. Keeping this in mind, the maker of BlackBerry devices, Research In Motion (RIM), based in Canada, revealed its plans to sell unbundled handsets through retail chains and some exclusive stores in India. 

According to the sources, “The company is on fast track to roll out a few own outlets and sell its devices through other mobile stores. This is in addition to the operators with whom it has tied up in India.” The sources also added that the company is also engaging in talks with RPG Cellucom, HotSpot, Mobile Store and Mobile Kingdom for retail tie-up.

The revenues of the company grew 13 per cent to Rs 258.7 crore from its revenues in the corresponding quarter in the last year.
