Schools in Andhra Pradesh to be provided with service from NComputing By taking an educational computing initiative, over 5,000 schools in Andhra Pradesh would be assisted by NComputing. The announcement was made by NComputing itself, which further informed that this initiative is being taken with the aim to help nearly 1.8 million children across the state to get computing access. 

No bid price increase for Axon, says Infosys

Indian outsource group Infosys has informed that it would not raise the bid No bid price increase for Axon, says Infosysprice of 600 pence a share for UK-based Axon, a move which rules it out from the battle to acquire the SAP firm.

After careful consideration, the board of Infosys has concluded this final decision, that it will not increase the price of its original offer dated August 25, 2008.

Last month, HCL Technologies had increased the bid to 650 pence per share for Axon valuing the company at 441.1 million pounds, at a premium of 8.3 per cent to Infosys' bid, worth 407.1 million pounds.

Symantec acquires MessageLabs for $695 million

The US-based Symantec, which is best known for its Norton range of PC Symantec acquires MessageLabs for $695 millionsecurity software, has agreed to buy web security firm MessageLabs for $695 million. 

Symantec plans to use MessageLabs' technology to develop other online security products. In addition, the company also expects to sell its products to MessageLabs' customers, which are mainly residing outside the US.

DoP Introduces ‘Electronic Money Transfer’

The Department of Post (DoP) has introduced an electronic money transfer DoP Introduces ‘Electronic Money Transfer’facility across the country that would make remittance of money through the postal route faster. 

The new facility would be offered to customers at no extra cost, and the money orders will be booked electronically from one post office to another post office across the country, which are inter-connected through Internet or broadband.

Infosys Q2 Net Rises 30.18% To 14,320 MillionTechnology giant Infosys Technologies, which develops applications, designs supply chains and offers back-office services, has announced better-than-expected results for the three month period ended Sep 30, 2008, helped by a weaker rupee. 

After tax and minority interest, the company has registered a growth of 30.18% in its consolidated net profit, which stood at Rs 14,320 million as against Rs 11,000 million for the corresponding period of the last year (Sep 2007).
