British Home Secretary Theresa May warns of Paris-style terror attack in UK

Theresa MayLondon, Jan 15 : British Home Secretary Theresa May has warned that a Paris-style terror attack could happen anytime in the UK.

Theresa May added that the police and security services needed powers provided in the blocked Communications Data Bill to protect the public and save lives, Sky News reported.

She said that the legislation was not for letting the government to snoop on emails, but to allow the police and the security services to find out the "who, where, when and how'" of a communication but not its content.

Her comments are in contradiction to that of Britain's most senior policeman who said that an attack on Britain was "unlikely".

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe said an attack was unlikely but possible and called for the citizens to maintain calm. (ANI)
