BP may not be able to pay Q2 dividends

The input was given by the CEO of BP, Tony Haywars who was talking to the Wall Street Journal.
The oil marketing giant is suffering because of the oil spill that caused huge loss not only in terms of money and resources but also in terms of image and environment. And because of this, the Obama administration has shown its resentment towards the steps taken by the company for cleaning over.
As of now, the date set for the announcement of the dividend was July 27. But looking at the current status, it is expected that the board of directors will cancel the declaration altogether.
The whole issue took a turn for the worse for BP after a team of scientists, appointed by the US government, said that the wells were leaking twice than earlier estimated.
Besides this, the UK government made a call to its US counterpart and said that they should consider the economic value of the company for both the nations, before taking any step.
