Bishop Auckland Hospital Maternity Ward Makes Comeback

Bishop Auckland Hospital Maternity Ward Makes ComebackBishop Auckland Hospital’s maternity unit which was closed in June in order of its failure to provide security to expecting mothers for whole day, has made its comeback. As two of the NHS foundation trusts, County Durham and Darlington have provided the hospital with 12 midwives.

BSH specializes in maternity unit and hospital was encountering the shortage of the staff for long time, and unable to provide 24-hours care, they took a decision in July to close down the ward. But now, the ward has opened and has best mid-wives from both the organizations.

Staff members are quite happy. Sharing her thoughts, Barbara Payne, who is a Ward Manager, said that they are filled with joys and it gives them great support when they see expecting mothers or would be mothers with their family.

Another reason for its comeback is that it attracts lot of population and many people from far off places come to BAH as they believe in proving a care which they could get at home, or let’s say they believe in a home away home philosophy.

Reopening marks many new beginnings, new staff, advanced facilities and determination of midwives to provide personal care to all those who are admitted.
