Biggies pay more advance tax in Q4 FY11

Advance-TaxHigher amount of advance tax is paid by several companies for the fourth quarter of 2011 due to their healthy financial presentations.

An Income Tax source released that both Reliance Industries led by Mukesh Ambani and Tata Steel led by Ratan Tata have deposited more advance tax this quarter. Reliance Industries has paid Rs 1054 crore and Tata Steel has paid Rs 987-crore.

While in 2010 in Q4, Reliance Industries and Tata Steel the companies had paid Rs 770-crore and Rs 513-crore, respectively.

Last year Bajaj Auto has paid Rs 175-crore but in Q4 FY11 they paid Rs 250-crore, on the other hand M&M led by Anand Mahindra has paid Rs 307 crore for Q4 FY 11 as compared to last year’s advance tax of RS 226 crore.

Hindalco has shelled out Rs 160-crore in Q4 FY 11 as against Rs 110-crore in the year-ago period whereas MRPL paid Rs 296-crore as against Rs 180-crore in Q4 last fiscal.

According to a source, Engineering and construction major, L&T paid Rs 300-crore for Q4 in FY11 as compared to Rs 270-crore in the year-ago period.

Top multinational banking companies have also contributed higher advance tax in Q4 FY11.

There were two corporate namely FMCG major Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) and Tata group company, Tata Motors have paid less advance tax.
