BHEL not to renew Electravan production

BHEL not to renew Electravan productionBharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has informed that it has no plan to extend its 'Electravan' project. BHEL has produced the country's first ever operated bus 'Electravan' in Bhopal.

This was the most remarkable effort by an Indian company towards the making electricity-run, eco-friendly vehicles in a global level. But now the company has decided to stop renewing its manufacturing. During these days it has been an awkward exercise for the company to produce eco friendly buses with international standards.

One of the BHEL Executive has informed that the production of Electravan is no more a cost-effective venture for the company. The company is hugely dependant upon its suppliers for equipments. Hence the company has decided not restart production of Electravan. In stead it will focus on manufacturing only motors and other power supply related systems.

However the bus had a good reputation of being free from the highly discomforting noise and vibration. It was designed by JB D'Suza. The bus was considered to be the best vehicle for wildlife sanctuaries, safari parks, historic places, airport shuttle service, postal service, mobile banking services and mobile kitchen services, institutes etc.
