Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular to come together for 3G services Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have decided to work together to offer the 3G service in the country.

The three companies will use each other’s networks through inter and intra-circle roaming arrangements to offer fast 3G service in the country to their millions of subscribers.

“Vodafone has entered into a bilateral roaming agreement, both inter and intra circle, with Idea and Airtel to provide 3G services to our customers in the circles where we have not built our own 3G network, to bring a pan-India experience of 3G services to our customers,” Vodafone said in a statement.

The leader operator, Bharti Airtel has 3G licences in 13 circles, while Idea Cellular and Vodafone have for 11 and 9 circles, respectively, out of a total of 22 telecom circles in the country. As no single operator among the three has licenses through out India, they have decided to help each other provide service in the whole country.

Bharti Airtel will partner Idea in providing 3G services in Karnataka while Idea will offer 3G services in Delhi and Kolkata in partnership with Vodafone. Meanwhile, Vodafone has started 3G services in Andhra Pradesh and Kerala through an agreement with Idea.

The three operators have not announced the financial details of their revenue sharing arrangements.
