Betting begins for Apple iPad sales

Betting begins for Apple iPad salesAnalysts have started betting that it is unlikely that iPad will become as successful as iPhone.

Last week Apple Inc. saw pre-orders for the touch-screen tablet. It is likely that it will start shipping them by April 3.

Referring to the facts, it took iPhone 74 days to reach the 1 million mark in 2007. The iPad on the other hand has a 72 per cent probability of taking longer than that, reports YouWager.com.

It is difficult for a device priced at $499 with a 9.7-inch (25-centimeter) touch screen which can serve up Web pages, e-mail, music, videos, electronic books and iPhone applications to sell so
fast. A spokesman of YouWager.com has questioned the practicality of the device.

Spokesperson of Apple, Natalie Kerris expects ‘the emerging devices’ to sell at least 4.2 million.

Meanwhile, Paddy Power Plc., Ireland’s biggest bookmaker, has open the grounds for betting with 3-to-1 odds that claims that iPad sales will cross at least a 6 million in 2010.
