Be fair, squad’s watching

To ensure free and fair HSC examinations in Thane this year, the Thane Zilla Parishad’s (TZP) education department has decided to deploy a special all-woman flying squad to keep a tab on those girl students intent on indulging in unfair means to push their grades higher up.

Speaking to DNA, TZP secondary section education officer, SA Patil confirmed the deployment of the all-woman flying squad. He said, “Although the incidents of copying at examinations have gone down, we are not taking any chances. It is difficult for men to check girl students. So, we have resorted to an all-woman team this time.”

“Besides, there will be one male and one lady constable deployed at every examination centre. Apart from the squad of the education department, there will be one lady member in four other flying squads from the secondary education department, continuous education department, primary education department and the one from the deputy director of education and training. All these squads will monitor to ensure smooth conduct of examinations, especially at centres perceived as trouble spots,” Patil said. “At a select 21 centres where examination question papers are kept, custodians have been appointed,” he said.

10 points for parents

A little care can be a big help for your child

1 A break is essential for students even one day before the exams and parents should ensure that the child has adequate sleep, indulge in hobbies,

or go for a walk and eat healthy food

2 Take a leave from work place if required and only if you think you can stay calm and

provide that much-needed support, instead of passing on the stress to the child

3 Too much stress will not be good for the child and can prove counter-productive, albeit some amount of stress pushes students to put that extra effort

4 Always be positive with your child and do not blame him or unduly criticise him and compare him to other

children. Instead, provide emotional and moral

support if required and encourage him

5 Talk to your child, communicate your feelings and let him know that you will stand by him in any given situation

6 If your child behaves differently, discover what the problem is and help him in that

direction. Any change in behaviour is a cause for concern, especially during the examinations

7 Make sure to avoid cross questioning and punishing the child during the course of the examinations, as it would not help and only make things worse for the child

8 Do not pass on the negative feeling in the children. Instead, create a network system along with your friends where you can get out your emotions and stress

9 Prepare a realistic goal so that the child can also experience success. Rather than aiming for 90s, let the child feel that even a lesser percentage can be good enough for a celebration

10 Do not disturb the child by bringing up past issues and instead, deal with how best he can

perform in the few days
