April 1 to see rise in clean fuel prices
From April 1, the price of cleaner fuels will go up. The raised prices will be applicable across 13 cities. This information was given by S Sundareshan, the Petroleum Secretary on Wednesday.
This fuel, though, better and cleaner because it will follow the Euro-IV standards, is going to be little costlier than it is as of now.
The secretary was speaking during a conference where clean fuel was being launched. He said that the clean fuel will be available in 13 cities from April 1. Some of the most prominent ones in the list are Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Banglaore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
Asked as to how much they are going to be priced over the normal fuel, he said that the petrol with Euro-IV standards will be 46 paise per liter higher than the normal fuel. The one with Euro-III standards will be 26 paise per liter costlier.
The price is going to be higher than the normal petrol because this petrol needs more investment for purification. The secretary said that the oil companies have made an investment of Rs. 40,000 crore in the upgradation of their refineries. This higher costs, has to be passed on to the consumer.
