Apple's new iMacs: 21.5 and 27 inchesMunich  - A series of new iMacs is hitting the stores. They consist of models with 21.5 and 27-inch screens and LED backlighting, Apple reports. The displays are in 16:9 ratio, with 1920 x 1080 pixels (21.5-inch), and 2560 x 1440 pixels (27-inch).

Apple has also built in speedier graphics cards. The 21.5-inch model comes with a Nvidia Geforce 9400M or a ATI Radeon HD 4670. The larger iMac can be ordered with a Radeon HD 4670 or a Radeon HD 4850.

RAM comes in the form of DDR3 chips with 4 gigabytes (GB) and 1066 megahertz of processing speed. The current 802.11n standard is used for WLAN. There are 4 USB ports included, as is Gigabit Ethernet, Firewire 800, Bluetooth and an SD card slot. Buyers can choose between Core 2 Duo, Core i5 and i7 Quad Core processors. Prices start at 1,099 dollars.

The computer comes with a wireless keyboard and the "Magic Mouse," a new creation that works with multi-touch technology. "There are no more mechanical buttons, scroll wheels or scroll balls. Instead the entire surface of the Magic Mouse consists of a seamless multi-touch surface," the company reports. (dpa)
