Apple is recalling certain numbers of Verizon 3G iPad 2 devices, reports
According to certain reports, Apple may be recalling a certain number of Verizon 3G iPad 2 devices before deliveries are made to the customers.
The company is reportedly also recalling the device from its retails stores. Apple had kept silent on the issue but today’s reports suggest that issue might be affecting the iPads. The issue is believed to be relating to duplicated Verizon Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID) numbers that affect 3G connectivity.
The MEID number is unique to each device and is used in CDMA devices. The duplication of the number does not allow users to connect to the network. Apple had said in April that certain iPad users care facing issues with connectivity as some users were required to restart iPad each time they disconnected from their 3G network. The issue was relating to AT&T iPad and Verizon iPad having different chipsets.
Apple ahs asked its staff to identify Verizon iPad 2s with a certain serial number allotment and the users are asked to get their device checked if they face any issues relating to 3G connectivity.
