Apple Nokia Ceasefire

Apple, NokiaIn a bite for the media, it has been revealed that Apple has lost the ongoing battle with Nokia regarding the patents. It has been announced by Nokia that Apple would have to pay for the use of the technologies of the firm. This final announcement has marked the end of the long legal feud between the two firms.

There was a long legal dram on this matter in the recent past. Nokia had sued Apple for the allegations of misusing their patent. Apple had come back with its own explanations for the same. The matter for this dispute was the Wi-Fi and 3G technology. It has now been decided that Apple shall make the one-off payment for the use of the techniques by the Finish firm. The amount of the payment has not yet been disclosed.

"We are very pleased to have Apple join the growing number of Nokia licensees", said Nokia's Chief Executive, Stephen Elop.

He further added, "This settlement demonstrates Nokia's industry-leading patent portfolio and enables us to focus on further licensing opportunities in the mobile communications market".

Apple was of the view that whatever the past disturbances between the two firms were, they have been solved. They are glad to sort it all out and move ahead with their businesses.
