Apartment: Movie Review!

Apartment: Movie Review! One fails to comprehend why our Hindi film producers are ready to destroy the thriller genre by only going forth with blatant rip offs of foreign movies. While it is a different fight simultaneously whether it is right or not, why make a fool of yourself by showing your un-creativeness by being so despairing? If you are eager to waste crores in making a movie why not expend some more money and appoint a good script writer? The newest such case is today's release, Jagmohan Mundhra's 'Apartment' that is lifted from 1992 Hollywood hit Single White Female.

Airhostess Preeti (Tanushree) is having a live in relationship with her beau Karan (Rohit Roy).

But after she misguidedly distrusts him of being disloyal to her, she cuts off all her relations with Karan and kicks him out of their apartment. But, Preeti shortly realizes that paying the installments for their apartment is turning hard difficult for her, on suggestion of her fellow workers she gives an ad for a renter to share her apartment.

Preeti selects Neha Bharadwaj (Neetu Chandra) a small town, innocent girl as her renter. Neha impresses Preeti with her ever accommodative and down-to-earth nature. The two become good friends. But things are not what they seem to be. Neha begins showing her real colours disclosing the homicidal streak in her character. Neha seeks to halt Karan's efforts to patch up with Preeti. Even goes to the stage of murdering their neighbor Madhusudan's
(Anupam Kher) cat. Shortly, the things become out of control for Preeti as she now feels threatened for her life!

If Jagmohan has tried to bring forward the risks confronted by many young, urban professionals who share houses with unknowns then he has failed terribly on this count due to the filmic liberties taken. Also schizophrenic disorder seems to be the most recent trouble to have caught fancy of many makers these days!

Tanushree Dutta's acting is satisfactory while Rohit Roy hardly gets any scope. He is flat in his performance as always. Neetu Chandra impresses audiences with her expressions as well as style. Anupam Kher is as brilliant as always.

The music composed by Bappa Lahiri is 'ok' but background score is excellent.

For those who haven't seen 'Single White Female', Apartment may be an okay watch owing to the turn it takes after Neha's actions change. (With Inputs from Agencies)
