Another round of pulse polio campaign in New Delhi today

New Delhi, July 6 : Another round of pulse polio campaign started in New Delhi this morning.

At the launch of the campaign which started yesterday, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit urged parents to administer anti-polio drops to their children up to five years of age.

She also ensured that no virus of polio enters the city. She said, “For making a strong nation, we must have strong children, which would only be possible with the success of Polio Programme. Our state has shown better results in this field."

Health Minister Yoganand Shastri added that around 7,500 polio booths would be established to administer polio vaccine to lakhs of children of 0-5 age group.

"Around 30,000 workers and employees of the health department would be deployed to ensure maximum reach from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm, he said.

The stalls where the drops would be administered, stationed at railway stations, ISBTs, public places including major temples, metro stations, Millennium Park, zoo and outlets of Mac Donalds.

Apart from this, a door-to-door week long survey is also being conducted.

Around 17,000 workers in 8,600 teams would visit different colonies including Slum and JJ Clusters to ensure that the drops were given to all the children, Shastri added. (ANI)
