The US senate has, finally, approved the much hyped Indo-US nuclear deal. Many All Industrial And Commerce Bodies Greet Government Over N-dealindustrial associations and commerce bodies have greeted the government on its success. CII, Ficci and Assocham said that the deal would terminate nuclear isolation of the country and provide energy security to India.

The bodies said that the deal represents the diplomatic success of the country. It has raised the stature of India in the international community. The director-general of CII, Chandrajit Banerjee greeted the UPA government and said that the deal would address the energy security risks of country and provide required technology to develop nuclear energy.

Ficci secretary general, Amit Mitra stressed the need of amendment in the Atomic Energy Act. He advocated the involvement of private players in the nuclear power generation. India needs 60,000 MW of power generation and the target can be easily achieved with the entry of private players in the nuclear sector.

The president of Assocham, Sajjan Jindal said that the country would attract Rs 2 lakh crore investments in nuclear power generation sector in the next 15 years. 

Many Indian companies such as NTPC, Reliance Energy, Tata Power, L&T and Bhel are planning to tie up with international companies such as GE, Westinghouse, Areva, Atomstroy and EDF in the field of nuclear energy generation.
