Alcohol tester to detect percentage of alcohol in drinksScientists have developed a device, which can detect the content of alcohol in one's drink.

The device which comes in briefcase-sized testing kit helps in measuring the alcohol percentage in the drinks.

The invention made by Unisensor Sensorsysteme, of Karlsruhe, can be owned at 3,000 pounds. It can produce results similar to powerful lab equipments, said the maker of the portable kit.

Dirk Lachenmeier of the Chemical and Veterinary Investigation testing agency in Karlsruhe, Germany, explained the working of the device. He stated that it involved the usage of a spectrometer in the system, which acts to measure the content of alcohol.

The procedure, which takes only 30 to 60 seconds to generate results, has moved ahead to be posted in the journals of Chemistry Central.
