Aksh, MTNL Rolls Out IPTV Without Broadband Connection
Aksh Optifibres, maker of cable and optical fibres, has made announcement about the launching of the country’s first Internet Protocol Television without any broadband connection in cooperation with state-run telecom firm MTNL.
Under the brand name of 'icontrol', Aksh would commence its service in Mumbai and Delhi, where MTNL has a strong presence.
The newly launched service lets viewers to manage the content on TV according to their choice. The 'i' in icontrol symbolizes the interactivity factor prevalent in IPTV (Internet Protocol Television).
The company provides its subscribers with more than a 100 channels that includes popular channels from Star and Sony group and sports channels from Neo and Ten Sports.
Moreover, the ‘Time Shift TV’ option in ‘icontrol’ lets viewers to enjoy his popular TV soaps and programmers as per their ease. They can also review the last 7 days telecast.
While talking about icontrol, Dr. Choudhari, managing director of Aksh Optifibre stated, “The launch of icontrol comes at a time when subscribers neither have the time nor the patience to wait and wish for service delivery. Through icontrol, the company aims to clear all misconceptions that for viewing IPTV, PC is necessary.”
For Video on Demand, Aksh has put around 200 movies together with options such as rewind, fast-forward, and pause.
Furthermore, there’s an A-Tube-Video Classified pages trait that provides viewers solutions to their daily demands from lifestyle, travel, restaurants, schools, beauty parlors, to even finding a plumber.
The icontrol service in Mumbai is available at Rs 100 on a monthly basis via MTNL. And for starting up the service, the company is providing users with a free set-up box against a refundable security deposit of Rs 999.
The company is planning to invest around Rs 148 crore in its services business on IPTV and VoIP platforms.
