Airtel to bring latest 3G models of Apple iPhone in India

India's largest telecommunications company by subscribers, Bharti Airtel, has stated in a release that it will bring Apple Inc's latest third-generation iPhone to India later this year.

iPhone 3G gives users faster access to the Internet and email over their cellular network with quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA for voice and data connectivity around the world.

The handset also features built-in GPS for expanded location based mobile services, and iPhone 2.0 software which includes support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and runs hundreds of third party applications already built with the recently released iPhone SDK.

In May, Bharti said it had signed a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to India this year.

However details of pricing and availability of the handset will be announced at a later date.

Meanwhile, Airtel customers who wish to receive more information on the Apple iPhone can send an SMS with keyword "iPhone" to 54321 (toll-free number)
