Air India may help Queensland see huge jump in tourist inflow from India
The proposed Delhi-Sydney-Melbourne flight by Air India early next is expected to allow Queensland to enjoy a huge jump in the tourist inflow from India.
Queensland is known as an exotic leisure destination for tourists, and the proposed flight may help bring in a bigger share of tourists from India to this exotic leisure destination.
Paul Buggy, International Director of Tourism Queensland for Middle East countries, Korea and India, said they wanted Air India to start the proposed flight service as it would help create awareness among Indian tourists on leisure destinations in Australia.
Buggy was speaking during a road-show organized by Toursim Queensland on Wednesday.
Speaking on the topic, he said, "If Air India starts that operation, then it will also invest in marketing destinations and that will be good for all of us as it will create a lot of awareness among Indian tourists on Australian destinations."
Previously, Air India had decided to launch a Dreamliner aircraft flight on the Delhi-Sydney-Melbourne route from October 2012, but it later pushed back the plan till early 2013.
In 2011-12, Queensland had received more than 30,000 travellers from India.
