Air India may get an expatriate COO soon
Expatriate is perhaps the new love for the Indian corporate houses as far as the leadership position in the management in concerned. After Tata Motors announced the posting of Carl-Peter Forster as its Group CEO, it's now the turn of the government-owned troubled air carrier Air India to hunt for a saviour.
Notably, the mandate for the candidate is to work closely with the captain-in-charge, Arvind Jadhav and plan a turnaround in a period of three years.
The aviation company has short listed five candidates for the post and the interviews will be conducted on the 27th of March. The company further added the fact that all the short-listed candidates are Expats. While the panel for the selection would be headed by the civil aviation secretary M. Madhavan Nambiar.
The others renowned names taking part in the selection are Anand Mahindra, vice-chairman and Managing Director of Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd, Uday Kotak, executive vice-chairman and Managing Director of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd, and Sajjan Jindal, vice-chairman and Managing Director of JSW Steel Ltd. It is estimated that almost 140 applicants applied for the post after the advertisements were published in The Economist magazine and The Financial Times newspaper.
