India's leading BPO services provide Aegis Limited has informed that it has purchased Sallie Mae's customer service center. Aegis Ltd. is a part of the Essar group and is a major global business process outsourcing (BPO) provider in the country.

It has announced that it has signed an agreement with Sallie Mae for this buy out. US-based Sallie Mae is the leading education finance service provider in the country. Now Aegis has acquired its customer service center in Killeen, Texas.

As per the agreement between these two companies, around 350 employees of Sallie Mae would be transferred to Aegis. They will be a part of Aegis' global delivery platform. Currently there are around 40,000 professionals are working for Aegis in this platform. The company is located in 43 different locations in all across the globe.

Its basic operation is at India, the Philippines, United States, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Australia and South Africa. According to Aegis officials, this agreement will be operative from 4th of June this year.
