According to police officials, a 19-year-old boy has been detained with regard to the murder of a school child who was beheaded on an island near Pune.

The detained suspect, Ashish Mapre, was said to be part of the trio who murdered the 15-year-old Abhishek Ghorpade in cold blood on May 5, cut off his head and strung up the body on a tree.

In addition, two minors have been arrested for questioning in the case, the police officials said.

Previous antagonism was said to be the major cause behind the act of teenage aggression.

The last rituals of Abhishek Ghorpade were performed by his parents in front of his grieving pals and school teachers even as fire brigade and police divers gave up attempts to recover the victim's head thrown in river Mutha, which flows through the city. (With Inputs from Agencies)
