Zynga files counter suit against EA
Social gaming giant, Zynga Inc has filed a counter suit against Electronic Arts Inc (EA) after the ES sued the company for allegedly infringing upon its patents in the previous month.
Zynga claimed in a filing with the U. S. District Court in San Francisco that EA was not the creator of life simulation genre. ES had accused Zynga of copying Sims franchise in creating its game called, "The Ville" that has gained popularity among players online.
EA has said that Zynga had obtained private information about Sims game after it hired three employees just before it was launched. Zynga has also accused EA of "an anti-competitive and unlawful scheme" that prevented the company from hiring people who were working with the video game publishing company. As a response, EA has released Zynga from legal claims related to its hiring practices.
Zynga was aiming to keep the information secret from the public in order to allow the judge to consider it as part of the company's legal argument. However, the company made the details of the arguments public through its court filing on Friday.
EA spokesman John Reseburg responded by saying that Zynga's efforts are aimed at distracting attention away from the issue of plagiarism of other artists and studios by Zynga.
