Yaseen Malik seeks genuine political space for talks

Yaseen MalikSrinagar, Dec 11 : Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman Yaseen Malik has sought troops withdrawal from the Kashmir Valley and space for genuine political talks.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, Malik said: "The circumstances are normal in the Valley, therefore we demand that army camps must be removed from the towns and the process of demilitarisation should start."

"A genuine political space must also be provided to Kashmiri people so that they can raise issues related to their political rights, this will also provide a platform to those leaders who are pursuing talks for resolving Kashmir issue. They should be given freedom to express themselves," he added.

Reports said some 15,000 Indian army troops of the 39th Mountain Division had pulled out from Jammu and Kashmir last month.

Reportedly, some leaders of the moderate faction of political separatist All Parties Hurriyat (Freedom) Conference (APHC) conglomerate held secret talks with Home Minister P. Chidambaram in an effort to resume peace talks to end a decades-old insurgency in the Himalayan region. (ANI)
