Yahoo’s ‘Kickstart’ - A Social Networking Service!
Yahoo has disclosed its own proficient social network called ‘Kickstart,’ which is aimed at college students, old pupils, and prospective employers.
In a declaration on Yahoo Kickstart, Scott Gatz, senior director of Yahoo’s Advanced Products division stated, “It’s a professional network with a purpose–to help college students and recent graduates build a professional network.”
The Internet search giant, Yahoo designed ‘Kickstart’ in order to assist collegians to link with future employers who can help them with internships, jobs and career advise.
Simply, the users will generate their profiles with full-fledge college data, photographs and other individual information that can be analyzed by industry experts and other potential recruiters.
If Yahoo’s new idea sounds familiar, it is because two renowned networking websites were already offering the identical service.
Facebook links users likewise, bunching up those who attended the same educational institution (university) or have the same recruiter.
On the expert side, LinkedIn is well known with older experts in quest of building up and maintaining their networks of connections, linking up users with previous colleagues, customers and business associates.
Kickstart aspires to fill the empty space between these two groups, aiming those who want to move further than Facebook, but have not yet made-up the business networks typical of LinkedIn users.
Mr. Gatz said, “College students are amazingly well networked on Facebook, but that network is about connecting with friends and is more appropriate for fun.”
“In fact many students we talked to expressed frustration that 'old folks' were coming onto Facebook and forcing them to lock down their profiles or - worse yet - clean up their act,” he added.
