Yahoo Launches Its Kick Start Network
Yahoo Inc. has launched a new professional social network that is officially called Yahoo Kickstart.
The aim of Kickstart is to fill a void between these two groups, targeting people who wish to move beyond Facebook, but haven’t yet built the business networks typical of LinkedIn users.
The service will allow students to connect with fellow classmates, alumni and companies who may be able to help them building their careers.
The Users would create profiles with college information, photos and other personal data, which could be browsed by industry professionals and potential employers. Searches could be done by name, company, college and affiliation, such as a fraternity or sorority.
To kick-start the effort, Yahoo is reportedly offering $25,000 to the US University with the largest number of alumni profiles by December 31.
