Writer Claims SRK Stole His Script For ‘Om Shanti Om’

‘Om Shanti Om’ directed by Farah Khan was the biggest blockbuster of 2007. The Writer Claims SRK Stole His Script For ‘Om Shanti Om’ movie, which won lots of awards and money, also faced controversies when the former actor Manoj Kumar was upset with his portrayal in the movie.

Well, past is past. But it seems that the movie still is not over with its shares of controversies and issues. Recently the well known Script writer of bollywood Ajay Monga, who wrote scripts for Madhur Bhandarkar’s Corporate and Fashion, which is yet to be released, has claimed that OSO has been copied from one of his storylines.

The writer told that he had forwarded the script to Sharukh Khan’s production Red Chillies Entertainment. He had wanted SRK to work in his movie, but he naver got back any sort of response from the King Khan.

Later when OSO was released, Monga realized that the movie was not quite but really similar to his story which he had mailed to Sahrukh Khan. He then filed a complaint in the Cine Writers’ Association (CWA), but was disappointed as the association gave a clean chit to OSO.

But the world premier telecast of the movie on Sony on August 10 really got enough with Mr Monga and he decided to go to the Bombay High Court on Wednesday. He wanted to put a stay on the telecast, but alas failed again.

Monga’s lawyer claimed, “The satellite release of the film amounted to a fresh act of piracy and infringement of Monga’s copyright.” However, Justice V M Kanade did not put a stay on the telecast but has asked the parties to file their reply within four weeks.

Monga has filed a complaint against the actor Sharukh Khan, Director Farah Khan, Producer of the movie and Director of Red Chillies Entertainment Gauri Khan and Mushtaq Sheikh (co-writer). He feels that it was an unethical act to copy and use his script for their movie.

However, all the four had denied any allegations put against them. Monga claims that there are around 21 scenes in the movie which are exactly similar to his script.

He said, “There are 21 scenes in the film that are similar to my film. My protagonist is a junior artiste, he loves this superstar and he fantasizes about her looking at her hoarding, he also saves her and she becomes very grateful and gives him a gift and she also decides to spend a day with him, and she comes to meet him wearing a burkha.”

Well to add more, he is not the only one who has got grudges against the movie makers. Apparently, Bimal Roy’s daughter, Rinki Bhattacharya too is thinking to move to high court to take a legal action against OSO, as she feels that the movie was quite similar to his father’s directorial “Madhumati.”
