A group of women have come together to form a formal networking group, Social Media Women, on the International Women's Day.

The site has been built only for women and would be supporting and assisting them to come up and participate more on the social media front.

Sydney is the place where the first physical meeting of the group is going to take place. The meeting is going to be held for the purpose of lobbying, so that the social media site gets the necessary boost.

The group has described it as a safe place for women where they can gain experience by asking questions and facing challenges themselves.

Talking about the initiative, Co-founder of the group, Catriona Pollard said that social networking is a natural characteristic of a woman and that is exactly what they have targeted. She also said that with this the women community can push aside the 'self-proclaimed social media gurus' by this.

The other key people involved with this are: Nancy Georges of the Magnolia Solutions, Catriona Pollard coming from CP Communications and Kristin Rohan of Sassy SEO.
