Woman endures three-hour rescue after slipping in squat toilet

Woman endures three-hour rescue after slipping in squat toiletOffenburg - A woman who got her leg stuck in a squat toilet after slipping on the floor had to endure a three-hour rescue ordeal, police in the German town of Offenburg said on Monday.

The 34-year-old had lost her balance as she was trying to leave the toilet and got her foot stuck in the floor-level lavatory opening.

When she called the police on her mobile, she told them she was stuck knee-deep in the toilet and couldn't move her leg an inch.

An intricate rescue operation ensued.

The fire brigade unsealed the toilet from beneath in an attempt to push the woman's leg up, but every attempt to dislodge her was met with a cry of pain, even after a partial anaesthetic.

The officers eventually ripped the entire lavatory unit out of the ground and cut the woman free with a saw. The hapless woman was taken to hospital with minor injuries. (dpa)
