Wolfsburg, Germany  - New VfL Wolfsburg signing Thomas Kahlenberg won't be making his competitive debut any time soon after it was revealed Friday that the midfielder is returning home to Denmark to try and shake off nagging hip and back problems.

"If it was a leg break then it would be easier as you would then know how long it would take," said coach Armin Veh.

Kahlenberg joined the Bundesliga champions in the summer from French first division side Auxerre but it now remains unclear when he will make his competitive debut for his new club. (dpa)
