Wlodarczyk gets hammer throw world record at worlds

Berlin  - Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland claimed a women's hammer throw world record of 77.96 metres at the world championships on Saturday.

Wlodarczyk bettered the mark of 77.80m from Russian Tatyana Lysenko on August 15, 2006, by 16cm in her second attempt in the Berlin final.

It was the third world record in Berlin, following Usain Bolt's runs over 100m to 9.58 seconds and over 200m to 19.19 seconds.  (dpa)
