Dr Nikolaus Mavridis and colleagues from the Interactive Robots and Media Lab (IRML) at the University of the United Arab Emirates, and co-researchers in Germany and Greece have reported that the robot’s Facebook profile page will feature interactions the robot has with people as well as photos of the time it spends in human company.

In a paper on the pre-print website Archive.org server, the researchers have articulated that their aim in building Facebook profile page for a robot is see if a sustainable friendship can grow up between man and machine. The researchers have reported that the robot is equipped with three software modules that help the robot interact with humans; one of the modules can distinguish faces of humans and the pictures they post on Facebook.

The language mode of the robot helps it to have real-time discussions with humans, and helps it continue a catalog of its friends and their data on Facebook. The robot also features range finder, touch screen and stereo camera. The robot has been named and modeled after Arabic scholar Ibn Sina, also known as Avicenna.
