West Bengal reports its first death by swine flu
An official reported that West Bengal has noticed first death in the state by swine flu. A 58 years old man surrendered his life in a battle with swine flu in West Bengal.
Health department has released that three more people are detected with confirmed swine flu making the total number to 20 in West Bengal.
The release also confirms that the person who lost his life due to swine flu was on chemotherapy since last two and half months and was suffering from multiple myoloma.
As soon as he shows the symptoms like dry cough with fever and breathlessness, he was rushed to Peerless Hospital where he was admitted and put on ventilation on July 17. Doctors have sent his throat samples for testing in laboratory and he was tested H1N1 positive.
State's nodal officer, Asit Biswas confirmed two more cases of swine flu on Tuesday.
Last year in 2009, state has recorded 235 cases of swine flu but there were no deaths reported but this year swine flu has made his first victim in the state.
