We have developed new strategy to contain Yuvraj: Shoaib Malik
Johannesburg, Sep 24: Pakistan Twenty20 cricket team captain Shoaib Malik has said that his team has worked on a special strategy to contain in-form batsman Yuvraj Singh in the World Twenty20 final against India here at the Wanderers today.
Yuvraj would not be allowed to score freely against us, Malik said.
“I know he (Yuvraj) is in tremendous form. We would sit down later in the afternoon and would try to come out with a strategy to stop him in the final,” The Daily Times quoted him, as saying.
Yuvraj Singh has becomes the first player in Twenty20 history to hit six sixes in an over in India's match against England. In the process he also scored the fastest fifty (in only 12 balls).
On Saturday, he thrashed Australian bowlers in the semi-final to keep his teams hope alive in the hunt for the title.
Malik has requested both Indian and Pakistani fans to not get emotional as winning or losing was a part of the game.
“I request to millions of fans in both countries not to get too emotional. One team has to lose on Monday. Take it just as a game. Both teams have worked hard to reach this far and both would try to win tomorrow,” he said. (With Inputs from ANI)
