Watch-keeper- unmanned air system by Thales, flew its first maiden voyage over British airspaceAccording to the official reports, French aerospace company Thales announced its Watch-keeper unmanned air system flew its first maiden voyage over British airspace in a 20-minute flight.

It was announced by Thales that the Watch-keeper UAS flew over British airspace during its first flight from dedicated facilities in Wales.

The success of the first flight for the Watch-keeper demonstrated the ability of the UAS to fly on ranges and segregated airspace, the aerospace company has said.

Thales Chief Executive Officer Alex Dorrian, said, "This is a momentous accomplishment in the Watch-keeper program and just one of a number of flight trials scheduled over the coming months."

The Watch-keeper is billed by Thales as a vital UAS for war-fighters, enabling commanders to detect and track targets for several hours without deploying troops.

It would open a training facility for the Watch-keeper at a training facility near Salisbury, England, later in 2010, Thales further said. (With Inputs from Agencies)
