Wall Street's surge helps Tokyo stocks rebound
Tokyo - Wall Street's overnight surge helped Tokyo stocks rebound Thursday.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average advanced 198.34 points, or 2.41 per cent, to 8,411.56.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also up 14.7 points, or 1.8 per cent, at 831.92.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 95.62-67 yen, up from Wednesday's 5 pm quote of 94.93-95 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.2896-2901 dollars, down from Wednesday's 5 pm quote of 1.2954-56 dollars, and at 123.34-39 yen, up from 122.97-123.01 yen. (dpa)
