Vox Media launches new gaming site Polygon

Vox Media launches new gaming site PolygonOn Wednesday night, Vox Media - which had been teasing the release of Polygon website for the last few months - finally announced the launch of the video game website that will be an all-encompassing source for video game news.

The key objective of Polygon video game website is to provide an extensive coverage of all kinds of gaming news, as well as cover human-interest stories about the developers of the video games and also the gaming aficionados.

The Polygon website has been developed in such a way that it will not only deliver wide-ranging video game news promptly, but will also feature exhaustive feature stories and reviews which will help bridge the gap between criticism and purchase recommendation.

Boasting Vox Media's characteristically elegant layout, the new Polygon site will even offer long-form journalism; and will be feature news stories ranging from casual mobile offerings like Words with Friends, to hardcore gamer titles such as Call of Duty.

With an editorial team of 20 people, including former Joystiq editor-in-chief Chris Grant, Polygon will chiefly highlight video games from the gamers' perspective, but will also look into the business side of gaming.

Noting that "Polygon is setting out to be the site of record for the industry," Marty Moe - the website's chief content officer - said: "The wildly popular video game magazines of the past decade have been absolutely demolished as of late and we think the Internet can cultivate that experience and community."
