Vishal Singh in lead in Aircel-PGTIMumbai, Nov 12 : Jaipur's Vishal Singh hogged the limelight in round one of the Aircel-PGTI Players Championship with a bogey-free six under 47 to emerge at the top of leaderboard here Thursday.

Randhir Singh Ghotra from Chandigarh and Bangalore's Rahul Ganapathy currently share second place as they fired identical scores of five under 48, inclusive of five birdies apiece.    

The course at the Willingdon Sports Club is undergoing renovation and being re-turfed. As a result of this, holes 7, 8 and 9 will not be in play this week and 15 holes will constitute one stipulated round. The par for the course is 53.    

Vishal was three under after the first six holes as he made three successive birdies on the third, fourth and fifth. He then went on to pocket three more birdies on the 11th, 13th and 17th to finish the day with an impressive six under 47. He converted a 15 feet putt for birdie on the 13th.    

"I putted really well today. The two long birdie putts on the 13th and 17th were the highlights of my round. This is a perfect start for me and I hope to capitalize on it over the next few days. The course is playing well as the fairways and greens are in great condition," Vishal said.    

Raju Ali Mollah, Harendra Gupta, Shamim Khan, Feroz Ali Mollah, Rudresh Sharma and Mukesh Kumar are currently in joint fourth place with identical scores of four under 49.    (IANS)
