VinFast VF9 electric SUV receives better than expected EPA range ratings

The VinFast VF9, a full-size three-row crossover SUV manufactured by Vietnamese automaker VinFast, has received better than initially expected EPA range ratings. According to information released by VinFast, the all-electric VF9 SUV has received an EPA range rating of 330 miles in Eco trim, while the Plus trim has been rated at 291 miles on a full charge. Sharing the information, the automaker stressed that both range ratings outshined its initial estimates.

The VinFast VF9 has an EPA range of 330 miles in Eco trim and 291 miles in Plus trim, with the carmaker saying that both ratings outperform its initial estimates. The full-size, seven-passenger, all-electric SUV has a starting MSRP of $83,000 in Eco trim and $91,000 in Plus trim.

Le Thi Thu Thuy, global chief executive for the brand, said in a statement that the VF9 electric SUV’s 330-mile range puts it among the best EV available in the global the market. He went on to state that the better-than-expected range ratings by EPA confirmed the company’s efforts and dedication to produce competitive vehicles at reasonable prices.

Speaking on the topic, Thuy said, “VinFast always strives to bring high quality products, reasonable prices and outstanding aftersales services to our consumers globally. The VF9's 330-mile battery range is among the best on the market, confirming our efforts and dedication to produce competitive vehicles.”

In VinFast’s lineup, the VF9 slots above the mid-size VF8. More precisely, it measures 201.5 inches in length, 78.7 inches in width, and 67.8 inches in height. Its wheelbase is 124 inches. Both of the aforementioned trim levels of the electric SUV feature a dual-motor electric powertrain that can churn out 300 kilowatts (402 hp) with a peak torque of 457 pound-feet. That is enough power to enable the vehicle to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds. For power, the vehicle relies on a 123-kWh battery pack.

The Vietnamese manufacturer also confirmed pricing for the full-size, all-electric VinFast VF9 SUV. The Eco trim of the electric SUV will come with a starting price tag $83,000, while the Plus trim will set the prospective buyers back by $91,000.

VinFast has plans to export the VF9 SUV to the North American market later this year. In the United States, the VF9 will join the VF8 model, which is already on sales in the country. In Vietnam, it is already on sale, and deliveries to customers recently started.
