Verimatrix Announces ‘VCAS’ For BSNL IPTV Services
To protect IPTV services to BSNL customers, Verimatrix announced that it has provided its Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for IPTV.
BSNL, which rolls out IPTV in India together with Smart Digivision Private Limited (SDPL), eyes more than three million IPTV subscribers in 93 cities by the next three years.
BSNL’s service offerings consist of over 140 TV channels in addition to an on-demand movie library without any additional charge.
VCAS for IPTV, according to Verimatrix (News - Alert), has been designed “to take advantage of IP-based, bi-directional networks by leveraging mature, proven two-way Internet security protocols, a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) public/private key pair system and X.509 digital certificates.”
However, for those who indulge in content re-broadcasting and content copying, Verimatrix's 'VideoMark' will help the operator to trace it.
VideoMark, one component of this strategy, is a forensic watermarking solution for digital video.
Verimatrix also said that VCAS software can easily be downloaded and can be updated or renewed as necessary to combat the pirate’s attacks.
VCAS for IPTV has been now integrated with SeaChange's middleware and video-on-demand (VOD) server for BSNL's service.
BSNL had marked the beginning of this year by launching its IPTV in three cities of Haryana.
Late last month, ACT Television announced its first IPTV in Bangalore.
