Vegetables and fruits loaded up with chemicals

Vegetables and fruits loaded up with chemicalsThe pivotal elements in a nutritious diet are vegetables, but these veggies now are lacking proper edibility state. As stated in the letter to union health secretary, Dinesh Trivedi, health minister of the state, admonished the sale of chemically loaded vegetables in the market causing ill effects like ‘nervous breakdown, sterility and neurotic complications’ among impeccant consumers.

In the letter, Trivedi emphasized on seeking action against farmers using hormone shots to hasten the growth of their respective vegetables, the affliction being that these hormones when ingested over a period of time may cause damage which may be beyond any cure.

The added amazement of Trivedi is the awareness of the public authorities on such activities being practiced.

The perfect look of pumpkin, watermelon, brinjal, gourd and cucumber is achieved by injecting oxytocin, the love hormone, which is a neural transmitter and is also used clinically to stimulate labour and secretion of breast milk, and controls bleeding after delivery. The adverse effects of various other harmful chemicals like copper sulphates are being monitored. Trivedi concluded with the immediate need to put a check on the use of these hazardous chemicals.
